The Deem Hills Basalt Trail basically serves as a connector to all of the trails in the Deem Hills park. It allows shortcuts to the Ridgeline, Circumference and Palisade trails, effectively alloowing you to shorten or lengthen any trail you wish. The Basalt Trail by itself is 0.64 miles and can be reached from either the eastern or western parking area.

Directions:
Location: From 51st avenue and Happy Valley, turn north on 51st avenue and drive 0.6 miles to W. Deem Hills Parkway. Turn right on Deem hills Parkway and drive 0.5 miles to N. Deem Hills Parkway. Turn right on N. Deem Hills Parkway to the parking area on the left. Follow the Circumference trail northward around to the east to the connecting trailhead.
Hiking Time: 20 minutes along the Basalt Trail only.
