Some Information Provided by:

Bureau of Land Management

Wild Cow Springs Recreation Site is situated in a grove of oak and large ponderosa pines within the Hualapai Mountains, at a 6,200 foot elevation. Rising high above the surrounding desert, the Hualapai Range is in effect a cool green island surrounded by a sea of cactus and desert shrubs. This recreation site becomes especially attractive during the summer months, with temperatures here averaging 20 degrees cooler than the nearby desert valleys located over 3,000 feet below. Wild Cow Springs Recreation Site appeals to visitors seeking a quiet, wooded refuge.

Location and Access

Wild Cow Springs Recreation Site is located in Mohave County, southeast of Kingman, Arizona. From Kingman, travel 14 miles on the paved Hualapai Mountain Road, through Hualapai Mountain County Park into the small community of Pine Lake. Turn right at the Pine Like firehouse, onto an unpaved one-lane road. From there, go approximately five miles to the recreation site. High clearance vehicles are highly recommended beyond this point. Travel trailers longer than 20 feet are not recommended beyond the firehouse turnoff.

Facilities

  • Most camping & picnicking sites are equipped with a metal fire grill, metal or rock masonry fire ring, trash can, picnic table, & level parking site.
  • Paved handicapped-accessible camping and picnicking site with a handicapped-accessible vault toilet.
